About University of Wisconsin-River Falls
UW–River Falls is a state university and a liberal arts institute that initially began as a teacher education institute in 1874 and was known as River Falls State Normal School. As it progressed and improved its academic offerings it turned into a state teachers college. However not long after with addition of several other academic field it turned into a state college and becoming a member of the University of Wisconsin System in 1971, it became a university.
The university provides for an engaged learning and developmental platforms. Through its quality programs and its student centered approach to teaching it aims to inspire its students to be professional but also leaders for their communities.
Students find an exiting and vibrant campus like that feels just like home. Besides being academically rigorous, the students find many opportunities that serve to develop their passion and achieve their goals. Students find more than 150 student organisations which serve as spaces to learn new skills outside of traditional classroom environment and meet new people. It serves as a great learning exchange among students. There is also the Student Senate which is the student governing body and is the platform that voices their interests. Participation in the senate helps students understand leadership skills and empowers them for real world challenges. Students also find leadership opportunities through participation in Hall Council, Residence Hall Association (RHA) and National Residence Hall Honorary. The campus also holds events and activities that are aimed at providing fun and healthy activities and for students to have a good time with their friends. Understanding global influence, there are various programs which let students engage with the rest of the world. The most prominent one is ‘Year of’ in which a different country each year is selected for awareness and celebration. There are also athletic teams called ‘Falcons’ which compete at NCAA Division III. The official campus colors are Red and White and the mascot is ‘Freddy Falcon’.
The academic programs at UW–River Falls are undergraduate programs with 75+ majors, 50+ minors. Its notable facility is the Chalmer Davee Library.
