About University of Wisconsin-Green Bay
UW–Green Bay is a public university which is part of the University of Wisconsin System. It had its start as an extended branch of the University of Wisconsin, called the University of Wisconsin-Extensio. However it quickly expanded and an increase in student enrolment and development of its programs, by 1965 a bill was signed for its establishment as a separate campus. By 1968 it was officially made into one.
It is located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and has gained importance in the region for serving educational and developmental interests and commitment to address the increasing social, local, global and also professional challenges through its quality programs and academics.
The university life is a mixture of both academic development as well as personal development of its students offering opportunities that help them into becoming aspiring individuals. At the campus, the students participate in governing their interests and concerns through the active Student Government Association. Further encouragement to take up on leadership activities comes through the University Leadership Awards which are awarded to students with excellence in academics as well as public service. Further promoting ideals of quality and inclusivity the university offers certificate programs. The campus is also filled with entertainment and other activities. There are more than 100 student organisations which provide with many other areas of interest where students can meet people and make friends while also learn and grow. The campus also hosts events regularly including musical shows, comedy shows, arts and many others. The university has its own theatre. Students are further assisted in their academic endeavours through counselling and career services. There are also recreation and fitness activities, intramurals and other physical activities. The university’s athletic teams called ‘Phoenix’ take part at NCAA Division I. The official campus colors are Green and white and its mascot is the ‘Phlash the Phoenix’.
The academic programs at the university include many Undergraduate majors and minors, eight Masters degree programs and a certificate program. Its notable facilities are Austin E. Cofrin School of Business, Cofrin Library, Weidner Center for the Performing Arts and few more.
