About University of Colorado Boulder

A public research university and a flagship institute of the University of Colorado system. CU Boulder was founded in the year 1876 through the amendment passed in the territorial legislature and hence funds were provided for establishing an educational institute. The foundation for the university was first laid in the year 1875 and it officially began classes in the year 1877.

The university is based in Boulder, Colorado, and has been designated as the space-grant university, for its affiliations and research efforts. The university is known for its intellectual endeavors, innovative learning programs and experienced enriched learning of its students.

A vibrant campus life awaits the students enrolled at the University of Colorado Boulder; from more than 400 student clubs and organizations to widespread arts and cultural experience opportunities available through theatres, dances, museums, planetariums and more. There is the unique University Memorial Center and the Center for Community (C4C) which offer games, hang out places and great food places. For being involved in extracurricular activities, besides the student clubs, there is also the Student Government which the students can join, and work in student interests around the campus. This also serves as a great platform for learning leadership through experience. The university also celebrates cultural and ethnic diversity by celebrating people from around the globe. Further opportunities for inclusion come through social and civic engagement opportunities as students engage in volunteer work, events or service tours. The campus holds events for both entertainment and learning of its students and these include International Film Series, The Connection, Speaker events and more. There is the Recreation Center on campus which provides fun as well as fitness. Additionally, the campus offers sports clubs and intramurals. The university has its athletic teams called ‘Buffaloes’, competing at NCAA Division I. The official mascots are ‘Ralphie and Chip’ and the colors are Black, Silver and Gold.

The academic programs include more than 90 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in more than 150 academic fields. Its notable facilities are Norlin Library, Mary Rippon Theatre and Macky Auditorium.
