About Palm Beach Atlantic University
Palm Beach Atlantic University is a comprehensive interdenominational Christian university located in West Palm Beach, Florida. It was established in 1968 by the pastor of First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, Jess C. Moody. He served as the college president till he resigned in 1972 with the graduation of the first class. In the same year, the university gained accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The first building to be established specifically for the college was the W.G. Lassiter Jr. Student Center which was completed in 1982. Seven years later, Johnson Hall and Sachs Hall were established. In 2002, the university established 2 branch campuses in Orlando and Wellington; however, the latter was closed in 2017.
PBA campus offers several distinctive buildings and facilities including MacArthur Hall, Rinker Hall, Pembroke Hall, Oceanview Hall, The Greene Complex for Sports and Recreation, and the Okeechobee Building. The campus also offers 5 residential halls and 5 apartment complexes including Rinker Hall, Baxter Hall, Johnson Hall, Coastal Towers Apartments, Lakeview Apartments, and Mango Apartments. The university library is known as Warren Library which was built in 2007. The library is named in honor of Donald Warren who was the first chairman of the board of trustees serving at this position for 38 years. Athletic facilties are located off campus in a location known as Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Athletic Campus covering 78 acres. The university athletic teams, who are known as Sailfish, compete in NCAA Division II as members of the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference. The official colors of the university are navy blue and white.
The university is divided into 9 schools including Rinker School of Business, MacArthur School of Leadership and Gregory School of Pharmacy. It offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs.
