Oklahoma Christian University (OC) is a private Christian higher education institute for liberal arts. It was established in 1950 by members of the Churches of Christ. It initially operated in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on a campus covering 152 acres. It was a two year college under the name of Central Christian College. It started constructing a new campus in Oklahoma City. The campus was completed and the college relocated in the following year. The college was renamed in 1959 Oklahoma Christian College when it started offering bachelor degree programs. It finally achieved the university status and got its current name in the 1990s when it was reorganized into separate colleges. In 1994, the university opened a branch campus on the former campus of Columbia Christian College. The branch campus was named Cascade College and remained in operation till it was closed in 2009. In 2001, the university was among the first institute in the United States to offer wireless internet connection all-over its campus along with providing laptop to every of its full time students.

The university campus currently covers 240 acres offering several distinctive buildings including the Williams-Branch Center for Biblical Studies which contains Scott Chapel, Mabee Learning Center which contains Tom & Ada Beam Library and Benson Hall which is the main administrative building. Other important buildings include Cogswell-Alexander Hall, Gaylord Hall, Gaylord Hall and the Davisson American Heritage Building. Hardeman Auditorium is the main facility on campus for performances and convocations. The campus offers around 1,000 residential units distributed on 11 residence halls and 9 apartment complexes. The university athletic teams, who are nicknamed the Eagles and Lady Eagles, compete in the the NCAA Division II as members of Heartland Conference.

The university offers 27 undergraduate degree programs granting baccalaureate degrees. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
