LIU Post Seal About LIU Post

LIU Post is one of the two campuses of the private Long Island University System. LIU began as a private institute in the year 1926 to provide education to ethnically diverse individuals looking for opportunities. When it started, the university mostly enrolled students from immigrant families but over the time, making its mark, expanded its academic base as well as its physical outreach.

The campus in Post was established and added to the university in the year 1954, and is named in honor of Charles William Post, a cereal inventor and whose daughter’s property the campus is presently sits on in Brookville, New York.

For students, the Post campus comes with a range of activities and a fulfilling experience. The students newly entering the university find a lot of activities that help them get around the campus and raise more awareness. One interesting activity is the ‘Common Read’ where students, faculty and administration get together to engage in thinking, cultural awareness, critical analysis and other such activities through studying fiction or non fictional works. Further student involvement happens through more than 60 student clubs and organisations available for following different interests and developing a social network. The campus also provides opportunities for students to launch their start ups and entrepreneurial activities. This opens up the students to practical, real world experience. There are also activities held for student entertainment such as in the form of arts performances, theatre, museums, and art galleries. Furthermore the campus also holds its traditional events such as Holidays at Hillwood, Relay for Life, Green & Gold Tuesdays, Spring Concert and many others. The campus also has its athletic teams, ‘Pioneers’ competing at NCAA Division II.

The academic programs provided at the campus are 54 undergraduate programs, 43 graduate programs, five Doctoral programs, 11 certificate programs as well some online and continuing education programs. Its prominent facilities are Hoxie Hall, Roth Hall, Lorber Hall, B. Davis Schwartz Memorial Library, Kahn Discovery Center, Kumble Hall, Tilles Center for the Performing Arts and Hutchins Gallery.
