About Laguna College of Art and Design
Laguna College of Art and Design is a private coeducational college located in Laguna Beach, California. It was established in 1961 under the name of the Laguna School of Art. It is administered by a board of trustees consisting of 25 members. The college states its mission is to prepare students to become creative artists and designers by emphasizing on skills development while embracing new challenging technologies.
The college has a historic campus covering 4 acres in Laguna Canyon spanning the area from the Big Bend area of Laguna Coast Wilderness Park to downtown Laguna Beach. Off-campus buildings include the Suzanne Chonette Senior Studios, LCAD’s Administration Building and the Dennis and Leslie Power Library. The college has also two additional campuses called the Big Bend Campus and the South Campus.
The college grants bachelor degrees, master’s degrees and post-baccalaureate certificate in seven majors. It is dual accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Laguna has several agreements with various institutes around the world including the Florence Academy of Art, the Art Students League, the Academy for Digital Entertainment at NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences and the Communication University. The college also offers a dual degree program in partnership with Vermont College of Fine Arts. Students enrolled at Laguna can get financial support from college grants and scholarships, federal grants, California State grants in addition to loans.
