Ithaca College Seal About Ithaca College

Ithaca College is a coeducational liberal arts college located in Ithaca, New York. It was established in 1892 by William Egbert as a conservatory of music to support the development of Itheca, Cayuga Lake, waterfalls, and gorges. The first class started with eight students in four rented rooms. Ithaca got the college charter in 1931. The college initially operated in the Boardman House which later became the College Museum of Art. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1971. Ithaca built an additional campus on South Hill in 1960s.

The college currently operates a 757-acre campus which offers several distinctive facilities as the Textor lecture halls with the unique Textor ball, the Ithaca College Museum of Art, Bogart Hall, Boothroyd Hall, Ceracche Center, Circle Apartments Community Center, Clarke Hall, Dillingham Center, Eastman Hall, East Tower, Egbert Hall, Smiddy Hall, Rowland Hall, Rothschild Place and Emerson Hall. Additionally, the university runs several programs in satellite campuses as The Ithaca College London Center, the Ithaca College Los Angeles Program at the James B. Pendleton Center, Washington Semester Program and New York City Center. The official colors of the college are blue and gold. Its athletic teams who are called the Bombers compete in NCAA Division III and Empire 8.

Ithaca is divided into five schools including Roy H. Park School of Communications offering more than 100 degree programs granting bachelor and master degrees. It is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). The college offers the students the opportunity to join a direct exchange program with several universities in various countries as Australia, China, Czech Republic, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Spain and Sweden. It has been ranked 6th by the US News & World Report among regional universities and 248th nationally by Forbes magazine.
