About Green River College
Green River College (GRC) is a public college that is located in Auburn region, Washington State. The history of GRC establishment returns back to 1945 when a huge learning event in Washington was held by the Auburn School District offering adult evening education programs. The program gained high reputation that the citizens at that time decided that this region “Green Valley” was in high need of establishment of a community college. A number of local committees were held in 1959 to get the approvals needed from the state for the new college establishment. The committees successfully acquired their goal when they obtained the state approval in 1963. A year later, in 1963, GRC opened its doors to enroll in its academic and technical programs in its old site near the Auburn Boeing plant. After one more year, the college moved to its current location in Lea Hill, east of Auburn. The location of current campus is characterized by being easily reachable from the different surrounding communities. In addition it is only 40-minute drive from Seattle and Tacoma two of the largest cities in Washington. In addition to its main campus, GRC has opened two remote campuses in Kent and Enumclaw in Washington.
The college mission is to guarantee providing students with high standard educational programs and services that would match the surrounding communities’ requirements. It aims be ranked as one of the best colleges in terms of students’ accomplishment and prosperity.
GRC has kept its place as one of the top 100 nation’s associate degrees awarding colleges for seven times in the past ten years. It is also ranked as one of the top 100 colleges in the U.S that award one year certificates in all of its offered disciplines.
Green River offers four-year undergraduate degrees in more than 5 majors, technical programs in more than 25 disciplines and 10 different associate degrees.
