Golden Gate University (GGU) is a nonprofit, private coeducational university in San Francisco, California. The university was established in 1850 as evening lecture series launched by the San Francisco YMCA. The first degree-granting program of the university began in 1901, with the launching of California’s first evening law school. It started with the name of YMCA Evening Law School. The Bachelor of Commercial Science began in 1908 when the courses of accountancy and business administration were added. The YMCA building was destroyed in 1906 earthquake and the study was conducted in tents and then leased space until 1910 when the school was moved to the new building of YMCA at Leavenworth Street.
