About Franklin Pierce University
Franklin Pierce University is a private non-profit university that was established in 1962 by Frank S. DiPietro. It was named in honor of the 14th president of the United States. The university was initially named Franklin Pierce College till 2007 when it was accredited as a University. The first class at the college started in 1963 with only 100 students and 6 full time professors in a campus containing only four buildings. Since its establishment the number of enrolled students increased several times which required the continuous building of additional spaces.
The University main campus covers 1200 acres in Rindge, New Hampshire with several distinctive buildings including Monadnock Hall, Cheney Hall, Marcucella Hall, the Fitzwater Center, Petrocelli Hall, the Pappas Center, and the Yvonne S. Boice Performing Arts Center. The main students activities center is the Emily Flint campus center. There is also the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Activity Center which is also known as “the Bubble”. This center is the main recreation building for the students providing several sports courts and facilities. The University campus contains the only fire company to be run entirely by students. The company is administered by 4 student officers besides other students serving as firefighters.
Additionally, the University has three branch campuses in New Hampshire and another campus in Arizona that are administered by the College of Graduate and Professional Studies. The campus colors are the crimson and grey while its mascot is the raven.
Franklin Pierce athletic teams compete in NCAA Division II and the Northeast-10 Conference with 40% participation rate among the students.
The University offers 37 undergraduate programs, 4 certificate programs, 5 pathway programs, 3 pre-professional programs in addition to 11 master programs and one doctoral program. It is accredited by NEASC since 1968 and has been listed by Forbes among America’s Top colleges.
