Embry-Riddle is a private university that specializes in providing education in the fields of aviation and aerospace. The present day institute traces its history to year 1926 when it was established as the Embry-Riddle Flying School, following the founding of Embry-Riddle Company by Talton Higbee Embry and John Paul Riddle in year 1925.

The present day Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University relocated from Miami, Florida to Daytona Beach in year 1965. With qualified and expert faculty, and learning centered environment, the university aims to equip its students with skills and professional knowledge needed to excel in their chosen fields.

The university campus provides a vibrant and fulfilling environment for the students who find a great number of opportunities for learning, making relationships and finding their path to success. There are more than 100 student led clubs and groups that work to serve as collaborative spaces for sports, community engagement, Greek life as well as Student Government Association. There are also separate Leadership Development programs. The students are also given the chance to run their own Student Engagement and Student Union which work to support as well as organise events on campus such as the Fall and Spring Activities Fair, musical concerts, Blue & Gold Week held annually and other such. There is also extensive spiritual life present on campus; there is Chaplain’s office for advice and guidance as well as the Center for Faith and Spirituality which arranges outreach programs, missionary activities, offers fellowships and also promotes other religious based activities and faiths present on campus. There are sports and athletic participation as well, with teams competing at NCAA Division II. The university colors are Blue and Gold and the mascot is ‘Ernie the Eagle’.

The academic programs offered at Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach campus are 26 undergraduate degrees, 14 master’s degrees, and five doctoral degrees. Some of the notable facilities are Jack R. Hunt Memorial Library, McKay Hall, Lehman Engineering and Technology Center, Emil Buehler College of Maintenance building and others.
