About Dewey University-Hato Rey
Dewey is a private non-profit institute of higher education and learning that was founded in the year 1992. In this short span of time, the institute moved from being a college to a university which presently operates through nine educational centers located in Hato Rey, Carolina, Bayamón, Manatí, Juana Díaz, Fajardo and Mayagüez. It has also expanded its academic offerings to include varied academic disciplines.
It was in 2012 that it transformed into a university and came to be called as Dewey University. Presently, the university has evolved to serve as an academic and research institute preparing the students to be intellectually creative, to be involved in discovery and exploration, and not only be focused on professional success but also in improving larger global communities.
Being among the youngest university in the region of Puerto Rico, yet contributing to academic and professional success of its students and contributing to its communities, the university has dedicated its resources to student development. It provides many opportunities at its centers and campuses which are aimed at assisting the students in their academic journey. The most important center at the Dewey is its Learning Resource Center, which brings a huge pool of academic resources and material, all to support students in their academic inquiry and complement learning. The students are provided with space and an environment where they can come and study. The center also aims to create technological integration with the academic and study material and also to be integrated with the students’ progress and skill development. The institute also has its electronic journal, called ‘Dewey Today’ which is basically aimed at producing, disseminating and hence promotion of academic content, research, critical analysis and discoveries.
The academic programs offered at Dewey consist of five certificate programs, 12 Associate degree programs, seven Bachelors degree programs and three Masters degree programs.
