About Colorado Mountain College
CMC is a network of Public community colleges that started back in 1967. The college at present is nationally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). Gradually this network of college succeeded to widen its academic base to including Bachelors degree programs in the year 2012. The college has campuses in eleven locations, in Aspen, Breckenridge, Dillon, Carbondale, Buena Vista, Glenwood Springs, Rifle, Vail Valley at Edwards, Leadville, Glenwood Springs-Spring Valley and Steamboat Springs.
Being a higher education provider for almost 50 years, the college aims to be student centered as well as innovative in its approach. It brings education with a more experiential learning, one that engages students in intellectual exchange.
Students at Colorado Mountain College become part of a vibrant campus life, one which is filled with every activity and opportunity that adds to their experience. Students collaborate with the faculty in a more personalised learning environment and collaborate with other students through participation in student cubs, campus events and activities which results in healthy and positive exchange of ideas and knowledge. Students enjoy a family like environment on campus being provided with every resource to assist them. There are regular workshops or study groups held. Students also find academic advising as well as tutoring to help them achieve more academically. Students are also provided with internships and employment opportunities helping them gain professional or job experience. The college also offers the chance for its students to be engaged with sustainability causes. Some of the initiatives the college is part of, are recycling, energy navigation, having a green team that works for a greener campus and more. There is also athletic participation by the college students with a varsity-level ski team.
The academic programs offered at CMC consist of undergraduate programs; Certificates, Associate and Bachelor level programs in 24 fields of study. The notable department at the college is its Isaacson School for New Media.
