Colorado Mesa University Seal About Colorado Mesa University

A public university, CMU was established in the year 1925 as a junior college. Within a few years time, by 1937 the junior college transformed into a college but it wasn’t until 1974 that it started to offer baccalaureate programs. The graduate program were added further late in the 20th century; it was in 1996 that it first started to offer a Master’s program. It is also a space grant institute

Seeing the institute progress gradually, it was renamed as Colorado Mesa University by joint decision of Board of Trustees and the State of Colorado. It is based in Grand Junction in Colorado and stays committed to providing finest quality standards preparing each of its students for a bright future and successful career.

At CMU students are provided with resources that develop them intellectually and ensure complete personal development. For a huge student population, the university offers over 140 student led clubs and organisations. These clubs offer range of activities and interests and enable learning outside classroom in a more enjoyable manner. By taking part in extracurricular activities such as Associated Student Government (ASG) and Programming activities council, the student also get to develop their leadership skills and understand the broader sense of responsibilities. Students voice their concerns; bring activities and events on campus. There are also community engagement opportunities where students put in volunteering hours in service to the communities; there are Spring Break Trips allow hands on experience as well as break cultural barriers. There are outdoor programs where students go on adventures and which serves as recreation. Furthermore, there are also university athletic teams, ‘Mavericks’ taking part at NCAA Division II. The campus colors are Maroon and White.

At CMU, academic programs offered are undergraduate programs with 71 majors, including Associates, and Bachelors as well as Certificates in 14 academic departments. It also offers six Masters Programs, six graduate certificate programs and a Doctorate program. Its notable facilities are Moss Performing Arts Center, Tomlinson Library, The Maverick Center, Wubben Hall and Science Center, Lowell Heiny Hall and a few more.
