College of Staten Island CUNY Seal About College of Staten Island CUNY

CSI is a public institute and one of the eleven colleges in the City University of New York system. The college traces its origins to the Staten Island Community College which was founded in the year 1956. The college was the first community college in the University, to be established. After twenty years, in 1971 the college was merged with Richmond College, which was founded in the year 1965 and so came into existence the present day college.

Located in Staten Island, New York, College of Staten Island is a college offering liberal arts education with commitment to providing excellence in education and opportunities in research and for scholarship. With its programs embedded in changing global environment and technology integration, it aims to foster intellect, professionalism and leadership.

For each student that enrols with the college, a range of opportunities in a range of areas await. There is Students Government body which provides leadership opportunities and acts as student voice on the campus. This along with Campus Activities Board work to enhance student experience on campus. The CAB brings over 100 events and activities, entertainment career as well as academic related, each year for the students. There are also more than 50 student led clubs and organisations that serve as skill learning platforms outside classrooms and also improve interpersonal skills through peer interaction. A unique program that the college offers is The CLUE (College Life Unit Experience) Program which is offered to the freshmen to better assimilate with campus environment and offer personal growth and co curricular activities through workshops, social activities, recreational events and others. The college has strong sports culture, having 14 intercollegiate teams taking part in NCAA Division III. Its mascot is a Dolphin and the colors are Dolphin Blue & Gray.

Academic program consist of over 45 undergraduate programs consisting of Bachelors and Associate level programs. As for its graduate programs it consists of over 25 programs including Masters, Doctorate, Advanced Certificate and Post Master’s program.
