About College of Saint Elizabeth
CSE is a private four year liberal arts education that traces its beginnings to the year 1899 when it was founded by Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth. The college began small with only six students attending its first class, however it soon took pace and stated expanding physically as well as its academic base. Entering 20th century, the institute was conferring degrees in various fields.
College of Saint Elizabeth is a Roman Catholic institute and is named after Elizabeth Ann Seton, who founded Sisters of Charity. The college maintains its mission and goals as serving the educational needs for those seeking knowledge and looking to transform their lives through education and commitment to service.
At CSE, students find every opportunity that calls them to become engaged citizens. With a close knit community life students interact with each other and the faculty exchanging knowledge, learning and experiences. Religious life is encouraged on campus and through campus ministry students, and faculty find themselves praying, worshiping, attending Mass and serving communities together. Further interaction is assured through student clubs and organisations, more than 20 present on campus as students find their interests and learn outside classrooms. Arts are actively pursued on campus with students being creative and bringing dance, music or theatre performances. Students also put in their efforts and time volunteering for community services such as working with Habitat for Humanity or fundraising for a cause or taking part in service trips to distant areas. Students also apply to be a mentor taking a more active approach for assisting their peers throughout their journeys. The college has its athletic teams taking part in NCAA Division III, with its mascot being ‘Eagle’. The official campus colors are Dark Blue and Bright Blue.
The academic offering consists of undergraduate programs with more than 50 fields of study in majors and minors. It also offers six combined bachelors degree programs and nine dual degree programs. Its notable facilities are Mahoney Library, Dolan Performance Hall, Therese A. Maloney Art Gallery, O’Connor Hall, Santa Maria Hall, Santa Rita Hall and a few others.
