College of Menominee Nation About College of Menominee Nation

CMN is a private and a tribal based community college that traces its origins to being founded in the year 1993 as it was established by the Menominee People as they chartered it. It began classes the same year however it wasn’t until the next year, in 1994 that it was authorized by the United States Congress. With the authorization it became one of the three land grant colleges in the state of Wisconsin. By 1998, the college was accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

The college is one of the two tribal colleges in the region and is based in Keshena, Wisconsin. It operates another campus in Green Bay. College of Menominee Nation stays committed to providing education and research opportunities with the single aim of addressing the rising concerns and challenges and solving them through present day methodologies and old age wisdom.

The campus life at CMN is strictly focused on the development and growth of its students. It provides every resource that would eventually add to its students’ experience and skills. It works alongside other community partners in bringing programs and activities offering the chance to learn different skills. There is Native Entrepreneur Assistance Program which brings workshops and meetings where the aim is to train its students for entrepreneurship. There is also it Youth Empowerment Program whose only goal is to work with other institutes addressing skill development, and family resiliency among children at a certain age. Offering something for the larger and more inclusive community, it also offers counselling and training for people with disabilities and a program called Food Sovereignty which aims to develop a strong food community and healthy environmental practices. Besides community engagement, students’ careers and future job perspectives are also looked after through the job center present on campus which brings job opportunities and also prepares for scoring the right jobs.

As for the academics, it offers baccalaureate and associate degree programs. It also offers diplomas programs in technical fields of study and trade. Its notable facility is the S. Verna Fowler Academic Library.
