Chamberlain College of Nursing About Chamberlain College of Nursing

Chamberlain is a for-profit institute serving in the field of nursing that was founded on the vision of an evangelical pastor. The pastor suggested setting up health care services that was to be modeled after the Deaconess model. The idea behind the education would be to serve the needs of local people. These were established in 1889. They evolved as a school and eventually as a college.

It was in 2005 that the college was taken over by DeVry Education and with change in ownership the college was named as Chamberlain College of Nursing. The college has stepped on a mission to care. Being in the nursing industry, it is believed that care for the patients will begin with care for the students and so students are not only taught about care but rather shown it throughout their time at the college.

At Chamberlain College of Nursing, Chamberlain Care® is the program that it incorporates in its education. The idea for care for the students begins with ‘Care for Self’ where students are encouraged to care for themselves by excelling at their studies and working hard at succeeding in their academics. The next step is where students ‘collaborate with the professors’. There is Chamberlain Care Student Success Model where students are provided with resources to help with their degree program. These come as assessments, customized workshops and coaching teams for assistance of students. The third step in the process is where students with a deep understanding of their profession and a deep understanding of caring for themselves, come out as responsible and committed healthcare professionals where ‘Respect for all’ is the motto.

Academic programs at Chamberlain are provided at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. There are three undergraduate programs including a three year Bachelor in Science and two Masters, a graduate Certificate and a Doctoral program. There are altogether 20 campuses of the college around the company along with provision of online education.
