Cazenovia College About Cazenovia College

Caz is a private, coeducational college that traces its earliest roots to being founded as Seminary of the Genesee Conference in 1824. When it was founded, it was the second Methodist seminary to be established in the country. As the seminary progressed in its journey, it faced various name changes and also operated as a secondary school and also a junior college. It transitioned as a college in 1983 and it was also when it took on its present name. By 1988, it was granted permission to award baccalaureate degrees.

Cazenovia College is based in Cazenovia, New York, and has not only been non sectarian since its beginning but is also called pioneer in coeducation. For the college, its students have always been at the center of everything and the institute stays committed to their development and success through quality education, participative learning and intellectual and moral growth.

Caz is a small college where its students and faculty experience the journey as a close knit community. Students interact socially as well as academically by being part of student run clubs and organizations, more than 60 present on campus. Through activities, students also find opportunities to learn and develop on their leadership skills. By taking formal trainings or being part of orientation, Student Government Association or any volunteering activity, students get a practical exposure of leadership importance and duties. Community service is considered a serious business where students volunteer in partner projects such as Friendship Inn, Adopt A Highway, Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive, Adopt a Family for the Holidays and others. Entertainment and fun events dominate all year round, with students enjoying concerts, comedy shows, films and theatre performances or others. The students are also part of athletic teams that are member of NCAA division III. The campus colors are Blue and Gold.

The academic programs offered at the college are undergraduate degree programs with over 35 program choices. There are more than 25 majors and more than 30 minor choices. Its prominent facilities are Witherill Library, Catherine Cummings Theatre, Reisman Hall and Hubbard Hall.
