Cameron University Seal About Cameron University

CU is a Public state funded university that was founded in 1908, a year after Oklahoma Statehood. It was in 1908 that Oklahoma legislature established six agricultural high schools and so Cameron State School of Agriculture was found. It was named after Rev. E. D. Cameron, the state’s first State Superintendent of Schools. The institute received permission to award baccalaureate degrees in 1966 and was made into a college in1971. Within a few years, by 1974 it transitioned as a university.

Cameron University is based in Lawton, Oklahoma and has another branch campus in Duncan, Oklahoma. The university provides its students an experience which is rich in academic resources innovative learning, and successful career platform.

Life at CU aims to become a lifelong experience and so is filled with every activity and development program needed for its students. There are student organisations which carry their own significance in student involvement. They consist of academic, special interest, Greek life and honor societies. Leadership skill development is offered through Leadership Academy that engages students in community service, organisational involvement and other such and also carries its reward points. There is community service where students take part in fundraising, and also volunteer for activities on national Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. The university recognizes efforts of its faculty, staff and students and carries University Awards each year. The campus also holds many events and unique traditions such as Aggie Escape, an overnight adventure activity and Day in the Park where students renovate public parks. There are athletic programs where its teams participate at NCAA Division II. Its mascot is Ole Kim and the colors are Gold and Black.

The academic programs at the university include almost 50 degree programs. There are Associate, Bachelor’s and Master’s programs as well as Non Degree programs in business, arts, languages, social sciences, education, mathematics, computer sciences and others.
