About Caldwell University
A liberal arts university and a Catholic institute, Caldwell was established as a college in 1939 as it was incorporated by the State of New Jersey. The college was founded by the Sisters of Saint Dominic lead by Mother M. Joseph Dunn. It was in late 2013 that the college received approval for transitioning as a university however it officially began as a university in 2014.
There are many academic programs that the university was the first one to introduce in the entire state of New Jersey, such as its Bachelors of Fine Arts program when it introduced in 1974, specialization in Art Therapy which it started offering in 2000, and a Post-Graduate M.A. in Art Therapy in 2008. The university is situated in Caldwell, New Jersey.
Life at Caldwell University is all about everything that it believes its students need for complete development. It provides a religious life and spiritual development opportunities through campus ministry and activities such as volunteering to tutor or work with students with special needs. One of the campus events include The Midnight Run where students go out at night to provide meals and clothes to the underprivileged in the local community. Not just this, with its ‘Cougar Food Pantry’ which the university runs, it aims to provide meals and food to those who can’t afford from within community present at the university. Besides, there are more than 20 clubs and student activity groups that provide students to interact in a social setting and develop their skills in their interest areas. Students also enjoy Greek Life at the campus. The campus colors are Red and Gold and the mascot is the ‘Cougar’. There is also athletic participation with teams taking part in NCAA Division II.
Academic programs at the university include undergraduate programs in 15 areas of study, with major, minor and certificate programs. There are also programs available for adult undergraduates. As part of its graduate program offerings, there are four graduate departments with eight Master’s programs and three doctoral programs.
