About Beloit College
A point of pride of being the only institute in Wisconsin that is the oldest continuously operated in the region, Beloit College was established in 1846 with its charter accepted by the Territory of Wisconsin Legislature. It was founded by a group of seven New Englanders, who were called Friends of Education. With their idea for an educational institute, they involved the clergy as well as the public of the region with their vision and upon receiving funds from the citizens of these regions they proceeded on to develop a college.
It is situated in Beloit, Wisconsin and has always been an institute that has contributed through innovation in curriculum and its dedication in development and empowerment of its students. The most unique aspect about the college is that though its curriculum is a classical one to the roots, it also offers student the opportunities to make their own individual choices.
Campus life at Beloit is all about students looking for opportunities to be involved and engaged with each other, the faculty and the community. Arts are a common practice, even for those students pursuing other programs to participate in various creative performances. There are ‘one act plays’ and a 48 hour film festival. There are also musical performances, choirs as well as dance shows that bring exceptional vigor to the life at Beloit. In addition to it, there are more than 100 student led activities and clubs which range from academic, to social and linguistic to those involved in community outreach programs. Life at Beloit is about engaging beyond classroom and that stands for academics as well. There are museums and centers that engage the students outside of their disciplines for wider perspective. Athletics at the campus consist of 19 varsity teams participating at the NCAA Division III. Its campus colors are Blue and Gold.
Academic offerings at Beloit consist of undergraduate programs with 50 fields of study. It also offers Pre-professional programs in business, engineering, law, forestry, healthcare and others. The notable facilities at the college are Logan Museum of Anthropology and Wright Museum of Art.
