About Atlantic University College
AUC is a non-profit educational institute that was formed in 1983 and is based in Guaynabo City, Puerto Rico. The two leaders who were the driving engine behind the establishment were Colonel Ramón M. Barquín and Dr. Teresa de Dios Unanue who wanted to have a higher education institute in the city for the local people in the region. When it was formed, it was the first university level institute and the only one in the city.
Atlantic University College has always opted for a responsive approach, growing and expanding its programs based on the needs of its people. With the vision of its founder and the expertise of its faculty, it stays to be the only and the leading institutes among the Caribbean universities to be offering complete digital arts education.
Life at AUC is made further interesting by the warm and embracing environment. During their stay and studies at the university college, the students are surrounded by Spanish architecture and the historic heritage. Besides, a community life, the focus on the academics is great at the institute. For complete personal and professional immersion, it offers state of the art facilities. The campus is equipped with 28 laboratories of which two are dedicated for those pursuing and practicing digital animation and video game programming. It also houses a Motion Capture Lab, the first in the city availed by both students and faculty to create digital films and other creative work. AUC also takes pride in the milestones it has achieved in digital field. It has been awarded two Emmy® awards and three nominations in 2015, for commercial production by both students and faculty. It was also awarded Gold Cup of cinematography in 2014 at the Festival Cine Campus. The college mascot is the ‘Gladiator’.
The academic program covering technological fields in digital arts at AUC consist of three Associate programs, eight Bachelor Degree Programs and three Master Degree programs covering the fields of Digital Science, Computer Science, Cinematography, Programming, Animation and others. An exclusive facility at the campus is the FABLAB, specifically dedicated to entrepreneurial projects, innovation, digital and special projects.
