ATOM began in 1994 to serve the educational needs in the industry of health care. Since then, the college has never looked back. Based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and operating as Not Profit, the institute has grown over time, in terms of the quality of academics it provides. It has grown along with the growth of its communities and its needs. It has developed its curriculum to be more comprehensive in its approach as well as stimulating the students to move beyond the theoretical framework of Oriental Medicine.

Since its inception, Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine has considered its duty to train students to become practitioners in Oriental Medicine. However, it has also considered its duty to prepare students for highest standards of ethics and professionalism in patient care.

Keeping with its vision training students to serve people, ATOM also stays involved in serving people directly. It offers patient services through many of its self operated of affiliated centers, providing people with effective yet low priced medical treatment. Along with this, it also lets its students be a part of its journey in serving people. It lets students put their skills to use by participating at the ATOM Intern Clinic, which is present at the campus. The facility is equipped with all the necessary tools needed to provide best patient care. Its affiliated clinic is a Non Profit program called Light of the World Clinic.

The academic programs at ATOM includes Master’s in Oriental Medicine Program, the Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) and a variety of Continuing Education Programs for those licensed health care providers looking to learn more. The institute also provides a Ph. D program in collaboration with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
