American Indian College About American Indian College

SAGU AIC started in 1957 as ‘Bible College’ by Alta Washburn. Washburn felt the need for ministry knowledge for the Native Americans and so founded the college. To this day, it continues to be the only college serving the Native Americans. Presently, it operates as a Private college based in Phoenix, Arizona and carries its affiliation with ‘Assemblies of God’. In 2016, the college has associated itself with the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) of Waxahachie, Texas and so officially has changed to SAGU AIC. It will serve as a campus to SAGU.

At the American Indian College, the students are empowered and developed spiritually as well as intellectually. The activities and learning opportunities are designed for a multi facet approach towards life with Christian values and principles forming the foundation.

The college conducts Chapel Services regularly which is a sign of its dedication towards on campus spiritual development. Also provided are the counseling opportunities outside of campus. There various other opportunities for students for real life experience along with their studies such as internship programs as well as outreach initiatives, in other states as well. Besides, there are music and children’s ministry teams respectively that work locally in churches and nearby communities. There are drama teams as well that perform in churches. SAGU AIC truly brings Biblical learning in a unique fashion; combining academics with a social student life like no other.

The learning programs offered at the college are in total three. Its notable facilities are Dorothy L. Cummings Library, the John McPherson Education Center, Charles W.H. Scott Student Center, Henson Memorial Chapel and a few others.
