About Allen College
An institute offering nursing education, Allen College was originally established as Allen Memorial Hospital and the Allen Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1925. It faced financial hardships and was eventually shut down as the great depression hit. However, in 1942 it started its operations again and since then has been involved in providing healthcare and nursing education based in Waterloo, Iowa. It operates a small, private degree granting college.
Being an open, diverse and inclusive, the college prepares its students for a lifelong service towards their communities. To deliver the best results and practical experience, the college shares resources and faculty with its partner institutes. These include University of Northern Iowa, Wartburg College, Loras College, University of Iowa, Aultman College and others. It offers general education instruction with some of these partners. It has also formed the Healthcare Careers Consortium EHC2 along with hospitals, health care facilities, high school faculty and others with an aim to improving high school curriculum and courses.
The college’s Academic programs are divided under the two schools; the School of Heath Sciences and the School of Nursing. It offers an Associate program, Bachelor’s, Master’s as well as Doctoral Programs.
